Primary | Literacy

Our aim in literacy at Horizon Academy is to inspire. We achieve this through taking an effective and confident approach towards the subject with all our pupils.

Literacy holds the key to success in so many areas of life and this is reflected upon the emphasis at school. It is reflected in our core aims in striving to build resilience into our pupils, believing in their potential and inspiring them to develop a positive outlook.

We use a scheme of work based around Wordsmith. This allows us to help each student individually since it can be customised to their needs. The scheme of work has a different outline per year group while encompassing all of the National Curriculum demands.
